Earlier today (Sept. 22), Trent Reznor posted a message on Twitter, saying, “A taste of what we’ve been up to” with a link to the new trailer for ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.’ Reznor and his musical partner Atticus Ross were recruited to compose the score for the upcoming movie, and it’s no wonder why. The duo picked up an Academy Award for their work on ‘The Social Network’ raising his stock in the ‘music for movies’ world.

David Fincher’s remake of ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ opens on Dec. 21, but fans of both film and music can get a sneak peek of both the movie and the score in the newly released trailer below. The trailer is the second to be released, the first featured a cover of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song’ by Reznor and Karen O. from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The new trailer introduces you to the movie set to a macabre curtain of sound, a style Reznor seems to have mastered. The mysterious tale chronicles leading man Daniel Craig playing the role of a journalist searching for a woman who has been missing for 40 years. He’s aided by a young computer hacker played by Rooney Mara. The trailer offers up just enough details to get you hooked and the score leaves a haunted feeling in its wake.

While music fans undoubtedly miss Reznor manning the Nine Inch Nails ship, we can all take take some small solace in knowing that he still sharing his music and creativity with the world, even if only through the big screen.
