Good news for metal fans, as Veil Of Maya have announced their new album will be titled False Idol. It's the group's sixth record as a band, and comes out Oct.20 via Sumerian Records. As part of the announcement, the group has also released a new video for single "Overthrow" (seen above).

The record promises to bring the group's songwriting to new levels, incorporating what the band calls a "very dark storyline" from a "first person perspective." Guitarist Marc Okubo says about the album's content in a statement, "It felt more like we were making a movie or a TV series, Lukas [Magyar, singer] actually had a storyboard idea that we talked about before even starting. It's almost like we were providing the soundtrack in Veil of Maya's template."

"Overthrow" is a good pace for what listeners like about the band, with crushingly technical guitar work played at huge speeds. The group easily makes the gap between the speeds of their musicianship with their melodic and catchy choruses. The song shoots at an upward trajectory before crashing down for a quick break, and starting back towards their riffage again. It all ends with a meteoric bass section, crashing down into the rest of the song with glee.

It'll be exciting to see what the rest of the album has in store, and what new elements the group will be bringing to the table with their consistently progressive tunes.

Hear "Overthrow" above, and pre-order the album from Sumerian Records.
