Veil of Maya have been hard at work on a new studio album, but it appears as though frontman Brandon Butler won’t be around to support it. The deathcore band has revealed that the vocalist has split from the group, but also state that they intend to find a new vocalist and continue on without Butler.

Rumors started to spread about Butler’s exit when the rocker posted that he had just started a new job working at Cascade West Coatings in Snohomish, Washington. That, combined with a new photo of the frontman minus his long flowing locks with a more job-like haircut, started fans buzzing about his status with the band.

By Friday afternoon, Veil of Maya addressed the situation in a posting on their Facebook page. It reads as follows:

VEIL OF MAYA has parted ways with vocalist Brandon Butler.
Currently we are hard at work on our new studio album and while the music is almost finished, the hunt for a new vocalist is now on.
We are very excited with how well this album is turning out and cannot wait to release it soon on Sumerian Records. We know that both our long-time AND new fans will be calling THIS their favorite Veil of Maya album of all time.
We want to wish Brandon good luck with anything and everything that he does in the future and thank him for being a part of the band.

Though Butler has not commented on his exit, it would appear that he’s chosen to find a more stable job. Veil of Maya spent their summer on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, and Butler appeared to be enjoying the experience, at one point posting a photo on his Facebook page stating, “I love my job,” with a photo of him singing to the crowd.

Butler is the second metal singer to depart a rising metal band in the past few weeks. Recently, Veil of Maya’s onetime tourmates Northlane announced that their frontman, Adrian Fitipaldes, had exited the group.
