- Nevermore and Sanctuary vocalist Warrel Dane passed away last month and fans will have a chance to pay their respects this Sunday (Jan. 7) in Seattle. A public memorial will take place at Studio Seven, and for those who can't make it, there will be a live stream from TopLeftTV taking place at 7PM ET/4PM PT.

- Sodom will have a different look the next time you see them. The band revealed in a social media post that they have parted ways with guitarist Bernd “Bernemann” Kost and drummer Markus “Makka” Freiwald. Singer/bassist Tom Angelripper issued a statement on the matter, chalking up the split to a desire to start over with fresh and hungry musicians. The band will return to the stage in April, at which point the new players will be revealed. See the full statement on the matter here.

- Sad news to report as former Tribe of Gypsies vocalist Greg Analla was killed Thursday afternoon in Albuquerque in a motorcycle accident. The musician was reportedly thrown from his vehicle after hitting a curb. The band issued a statement that they were "shocked and heartbroken" upon hearing the news, offering condolences to his family. Read their full statement here.

- Jungle Rot will return with a new album in 2018. According to a press release, the band is entering the studio today (Jan. 5) to start work on the effort, with initial song titles including "Delusional Denial," "Glory For The Fallen," "Stay Dead," "Twisted Mind," "Fearmonger," "Pumped Full Of Lead," "A Burning Cinder,” “Triggered,” “Full Scale War” and “Send Forth Oblivion.” In addition, they are working on two as-of-yet-unnamed cover songs. A spring 2018 release is expected through Victory Records.

- Tengger Cavalry have unleashed their new video for "Cian Bi (Fight Your Darkness)." Featuring the band's unique instrumentation and performance, you can check out the clip here.

- Cult death metal band Portal have released their newest song "Phantom," off of their upcoming album ION. It's out Jan. 26, and you can check out the song right here.
