Remember when Nergal thought The Satanist might be the last Behemoth record? Then came I Loved You at Your Darkest last year and now he's guaranteeing the Polish blackened death metal horde will release another new one in 2021.

"I'm inspired, and I'm going to surprise you — we're already making new music," Nergal said of Behemoth's progress toward new music in an interview with 96.7 KCAL at a California stop on the Knotfest Roadshow.

The frontman also revealed that there's leftover tracks from the previous album sessions, decrying, "We just need to find the right place, the right time, the right occasion to [release them]. It's happening eventually."

Perhaps those songs will serve as a bridge to the forthcoming record, tiding fans over with them as well as new album from his dark folk side project, Me and That Man.
"[Behemoth] start jamming and demoing later this year, and in the meantime, I'm putting the final touches to the second Me and That Man album as well. There's work on several levels simultaneously. I'm very creative and very productive lately," he said.

Nergal appeared certain about his musical future, confirming, "Me and That Man is going to be [released during] the first half of 2020, and Behemoth is going to be 2021, one hundred percent."

Nergal went on, explaining that he's striving to match the quality of I Loved You at Your Darkest without handing in a mere copy of the album.

Behemoth recently performed on Slayer's farewell tour and are currently on the road with Slipknot, Volbeat and Gojira. This has helped open the band up to a wider audience, which Nergal credits for these moments being "the most exciting moments in our career."

"You have 11 records and countless tours and almost [a] 30-year career going, and there's still people who don't know you. That's the point — to convert these kids, to push and don't get too spoiled. It's good to be [a] newcomer. It's good to be first on the bill. It's a good experience," he concluded.
