Due to the violent nature of the band's lyrics, the translation of Cannibal Corpse songs has been banned from distribution in Russia.

Cannibal Corpse has a rich history of censorship across the planet. The band's music has been banned in Australia and Germany in the past. Bans in both countries have been lifted, but Russia has just implemented its own ban.

Earlier this year, Orthodox groups aimed to stop Cannibal Corpse from performing a total of eight shows across Russia scheduled from Oct. 2 -12. Unfortunately, a number of shows were actually canceled and Russian police even pulled the plug on Cannibal Corpse mid-performance in Nizhny Novgorod.

According to RAPSI and Senior Aide to Prosecutor of Bashkortostan, Guzel Masagutova, the decision to blacklist Cannibal Corpse's lyrics came down from the Oktyabrsky District Court of Ufa. The decision was made to spare the mental health of children who may otherwise encounter the "descriptions of violence, the physical and mental abuse of people and animals, murder and suicide – all accompanied by illustrations."

Cannibal Corpse has yet to comment on the Russian ban.
