Chester Bennington’s Band Grey Daze to Release Re-Recorded Album
Grey Daze, Chester Bennington's pre-Linkin Park band, will honor the legacy of the late singer by releasing an album of re-recorded material originally written in the '90s. In a recent statement, Chester's widow, Talinda, shed some light on the project, which was put in motion before Chester took his own life in the summer of 2017.
Earlier this year, it was reported that the reactivated group was in the studio with Jaime Bennington -- Chester and Talinda's son -- as well as members of Korn, P.O.D. and Bush as they worked to bring these songs to Chester's fans with newfound meaning. "One of Chester's greatest gifts was music. The only thing he took more pride in was being a father to his children," wrote Talinda in a statement shared on Twitter.
Making note of her late husband's foray into music, Talinda continued, "Given how much he cared, he wanted fans to hear everything he did, and his musical journey started with Grey Daze."
She divulged that the project, which began in February 2017, was originally supposed to be finished by June of that year and that a 20th anniversary Grey Daze reunion show was planned for the fall. Tragically, Chester died in July, leading the band to hit pause on their plans as they grieved over the loss and plotted their next move.
"When Chester passed away, Grey Daze's reunion seemed like an afterthought to everyone involved, they were suffering, I was suffering, and there were way too many emotions to work through before we could even think about what would happen to that project," added Talinda.
After time passed, the decision was made to continue working on the re-recordings. "The Grey Daze project is one of the ways we can continue to tell Chester's story and connect with his fans," she said in closing.

During their active period, Grey Daze recorded three demos: Demo (1993), Wake/Me (1994) and ...no sun today (1997) before Bennington left the group in 1998. One year later, the singer joined Linkin Park.
