Japan’s Coffins Announce Fifth Album, Debut ‘Forgotten Cemetery’

Japan's Coffins have just announced Beyond the Circular Demise as the title of their forthcoming sixth full length, their first since issuing The Fleshland back in 2013. The death metal / doom unit has also shared "Forgotten Cemetery," the first single from the new record.

It's got that textbook gravely, low-slung Coffins sound, fusing the more chipper elements of punk with cavernous, crawling death metal in a way they've done so remarkably for nearly two decades.

Since The Fleshland, there's been a pair of lineup changes with vocalist Jun Tokita joining in 2013 and bassist / vocalist Masafumi Atake entering the fold in 2015. Tokita has been featured on a handful of split releases and EPs in recent years while Atake's studio debut came earlier this year on a split with Cardiac Arrest.
