Things just took a turn for the worse for Deftones bassist Chi Cheng. His family posted on the Oneloveforchi.com website that the musician has been diagnosed with pneumonia.

Cheng, who has been in a partially conscious state since his involvement in a 2008 auto accident, just returned home after spending recovery time in New Jersey. The trip was funded by fans and friends.

The family postings read, "Shout out to Chi's worldwide family - prayer request - he just got back home last night from N.J. and is in ER with something serious going on. Pneumonia and don't know what else. Not good! Please send the word again to pray hard. Thank you all! One love."

A second posting suggested that the bassist was in the intensive care unit and taking three antibiotics to combat the pneumonia. They also stated that his blood pressure and oxygen levels were both low.

P.O.D.'s Sonny Sandoval also checked in via Twitter after visiting with the family. He added, "Spoke with Chi's mom. He really needs our prayers. He's in ICU and still fighting. Gods will be done!" Earlier this year, Cheng was said to be showing signs of improvement after three years of being in a coma.

Deftones have continued their career without Cheng, bringing in Sergio Vega to fill in with hopes that someday Cheng will return to his former self. Vega appeared on the 'Diamond Eyes' album and the group is reportedly working on a new disc.
