Diamante Ditched Class to Sing With Bad Wolves
Diamante isn't an average rock vocalist - the 22-year old is still currently enrolled in school. In a recent interview with Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez, Diamante explains how she ditched class when she was called to be the guest vocalist on Bad Wolves' song "Hear Me Now." Listen to the full interview above.
"I remember 'Zombie' was not at its peak, but it was gaining momentum," the singer says. "Bad Wolves had been a fairly newly-signed band to the label and they hit me up back in April and said, 'Hey we have this band called Bad Wolves, and they have this song that they really want you to sing on.' So I heard the song, and the minute I heard it I said, 'Absolutely,' because I fell in love with the song."
Diamante received the call that she was needed in the studio while she was attending a class at the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif. "That's when my manager called me in the middle of class and said, 'You have to get to LA right now, they need you in the studio to cut the song,'" she explains, adding that she was two hours away and would struggle to make it in time. Luckily, she made it to the studio in time to featured on the track, which went to number one on Active Rock Radio.
"Ever since then, it's been a whirlwind. The response to 'Hear Me Now' is just massive, so because of that I actually ended up going on tour with Bad Wolves for a lot of their summer tour and singing the song with them every night on stage," she adds.
The vocalist occasionally has to take a leave of absence from school when she is about to embark on tour. "It's definitely been much longer than it should have taken. If I had just gone straight like every other normal college student then I would already have my degree right now, but I'm kind of living this double life and I really want to have an education and get this degree while still pursuing my dreams of music." She is pursuing a degree in music and has about a year left until she obtains it.
Diamante is currently writing and trying to fit in as much time in the studio as possible before she goes on tour with Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Three Days Grace and Dorothy.
