Ed Sheeran was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday night. Okay, let's pause and say for all you hardcore metal and rock heads that Ed Sheeran is a popular male singer-songwriter who specializes in acoustic love songs with sensitive, sweet lyrics. So with that in mind, what better way to use his talents than to have him sing heavy metal songs? Thankfully, that’s just what the late night show host had the crooner do. Enjoy it above.

In front of a dark red sky and lightning backdrop, the unassuming Sheeran performed tracks from Iron Maiden and Limp Bizkit during a fake informercial about his "new" heavy metal covers album. Maiden’s “Run to the Hills” has never sounded so angelic, while Limp Bizkit’s curse-filled “Break Stuff” track comes off as a tune you could play during the first dance at your wedding. Fallon said it perfectly when he stated, “That’s like a warm blanket that soothes my muscles and bones.”

At the end of the clip Sheeran performs rapper Ty Dolla $ign’s “Paranoid,” while Fallon, in character as the informercial’s host, asks fans to head over to DeathSheeran.com to buy the album. Unfortunately, that website only links to the video above and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon's webpage, which we think is a missed opportunity. We'd have loved to have seen more covers from Sheeran, like the teased Cannibal Corpse's "Hammer Smashed Face," or how about the fake group Goatskank's track "Brainthrob"? We bet that would have been a winner.
