Exodus, Obituary + Power Trip Crushed Brooklyn and Our Photographer Ended Up a Bloody Mess
Damn, we shoulda warned him about Power Trip! The "Battle of the Bays" tour featuring Exodus, Obituary and Power Trip stopped at Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg on Tuesday night (Sept. 19) and absolutely punished the crowd, none more so than our photographer Kevin Wilson.
It was about 8:30 that night when the Loudwire's Editor-in-Chief got a text from Kevin with a photo of him holding a bloody paper towel and stating, "Stage diver busted my lip and tongue & I think one of my cameras got f---ed in the process. Spitting blood in the bathroom." The incident happened a few songs into Power Trip's set, and if you've seen Power Trip live, it's not that surprising.
While we urged Kevin to seek medical help and call it a night, he was a trooper, sticking it out for both Obituary and Exodus, and capturing excellent photos along the way.
The show itself was something straight out of an '80s thrash club gig, with bodies flying everywhere in the sweaty and dangerous pit. If you wanna attend a genuine all-out, no-holds-barred metal show, catch this tour when it hits your town. Dates run through mid-October and can be seen here. And don't forget to catch Power Trip performing live at the 2017 Loudwire Music Awards on Oct. 24 in Los Angeles. Details here.
In the meantime, our photographer Kevin is still recovering, but thankfully the doctor told him it was nothing serious. He's already asking about shooting some upcoming shows. See his gallery of Exodus, Obituary and Power Trip shots above, and check out his bloody Instagram post below.
