Group 2 in the Opening Round of the Extreme Metal Olympics contains eight of metal's most purely brutal bands that fall under the genres of death metal, black metal, thrash and extreme metal. They are among the 32 bands competing to move to the next round of the Extreme Metal Olympics.

Starting off, we've got Brazilian thrash legends Sepultura fighting against Demonic Resurrection from India.

Immortal are one of Norway's three representatives in the Extreme Metal Olympics, and they will be fighting against fellow European metal band Necrophagist. Germany's Necrophagist have grown to be one of technical death metal's most beloved bands, and they'll be in the running to take the gold.

American brutal death metal icons Cannibal Corpse are one of the proud entires from the USA. However, to advance further in the Extreme Metal Olympics, they must defeat Great Britain grindcore scientists Napalm Death.

Gothic/black metal band Cradle of Filth will also be representing Great Britain, taking on Italian brutal death metal legends-in-the-making Fleshgod Apocalypse.
