Former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo is moving forward with his career. After making a guest turn on Sepultura's most recent album and buckling down on his other band Philm, Lombardo has landed another gig as the drummer for veteran rockers Amen.

The Casey Chaos-led band will have a different look with John Fahnestock on bass, Duke Decter and John King on guitars and now Lombardo taking over on drums. The group has been in the studio working with producer Ross Robinson (Korn, Slipknot, Sepultura) on their next album.

Lombardo said in a statement to Metal Hammer, "I am very proud to have been asked to be part of this amazing production with Casey Chaos and Ross Robinson. My career in thrash was created from my love of the punk genre. There is an excitement in this particular style of music that's vital for me. It's aggressive, honest and needed."

The drummer will also join Amen for their U.K. trek in August, but also stated that he would be returning to Philm after the run for more European dates in September. Dates for the Amen U.K. trek can be seen below.

Lombardo and Chaos have a history, having previously worked on music for a documentary about New Orleans' House of Shock haunted house back in 2012. Chaos stated about Lombardo, "It's great to be working again with Dave, this time in Amen. He brought so much power, aggression and passion to the music on the new record, in a way only he could only deliver. Without question this is the most important album I've ever made. I'm looking forward to unleashing it live and destroying ourselves for your pleasure."

Stay tuned for more details about the eventual album release.
