Godsmack, Seether, Buckcherry + Skillet Rock Uproar Festival in Irvine, California
The Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival returned to Southern California with a stop at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine on Sept. 16. This year the lineup featured Godsmack, Seether, Buckcherry and Skillet among others playing in sweltering temperatures.
The smaller side stage featured New Medicine, Tattered, Sons of Revelry and Escape the Fate, but for those in attendance it was clearly about the main stage.
After short sets by These Raven Skies and Pop Evil, local favorites Buckcherry delivered a typically passionate and energetic set led by their sinewy frontman Josh Todd. Up next were Skillet, who won the crowd over with their catchy rock anthems.
Seether came on after the lights went down and played a sturdy but subdued set, and it finally was time for the headliner, Godsmack. Backed by tons of pyro and production, the veteran Boston band cranked out a hit-laden set that also featured some new songs including ‘Something Different’ and ‘Locked & Loaded.’
All in all, a solid bill that could've used a few more fans. But on a Tuesday afternoon and evening with temperatures hovering around 100, what can you do? Fans in attendance responded well to all the headliners and a good time seemed to be had by all.
