It’s no secret that many metalheads love Game of Thrones. Not only did Mastodon make an appearance as a bunch of Wildlings in the latest season, the members of Anthrax are huge fans of the series, as well. Anthrax, Killswitch Engage and Mushroomhead appear on Catch the Throne: The Mixtape Volume 2. We had a chance to chat with another fan of the show, Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta, who not only watches the show but is a major fan of the novels, as well. Jasta dishes on his favorite character, his thoughts on the latest season and more. Check out our interview with Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed below:

What did you think of the latest season of Game of Thrones (Season 5)?

I liked it, I was already pretty far ahead in Feast for Crows. I kind of knew where they were going with it. With the whole Ice King thing or whatever that guy’s name is, the frost king, what do they call him? Yeah, he’s not really represented in the book and that whole war with the White Walkers that’s not really in there. I had these crazy theories of, “Oh maybe this is their way of doing more CGI so that the cast that doesn’t return isn’t tied up.” Imagine how hard it is with all of these actors and actresses and contracts for next season and the flashbacks with everything. Then I got invited to this real, legit Game of Thrones Facebook group and I saw their theories and I was even more blown away. I got to be careful about what we talk about because then fans will be like “No spoilers dude, what the f---!”

Who’s your favorite character?

I mean Tyrion is still my favorite. On my podcast we theorized some things and now I’m a little guarded with what I say because if you allude to him being alive it’s a spoiler, if you allude to him being dead it’s a spoiler. He’s just bad enough where you can forgive him, he’s an outcast and he’s different and you can relate to him on a different level.

Where in Westeros would you live if you could?

I don’t know, maybe where, what’s his face who got his eyes gouged out – where Oberyn is from. They’re all f---ing  and it’s warm and nice, it’s like their South America -- Dorne.

Up to this point in the television series, which living character do you think has it the worst so far?

I guess it would be a toss-up between Sansa and Theon -- the show is different from the book in that aspect. But again I have to be careful, no book spoilers, no TV spoilers! Some people still aren’t caught up to the TV show and you go, “What the f--- are you doing?” Take a day off from work, order some pizzas and get up to speed.

Who do you think deserves the throne?

I don’t know, you know what I’m going to read Winds of Winter [the forthcoming novel] and see where they go with it from there. I’ve read a lot of the fan theories. They could feasibly take Sansa’s character and marry her to someone. Hypothetically, she escapes and she marries someone decent you can have a case for that or if Tyrion’s nephew, the younger one if he doesn’t turn out to be a total s---head but then everyone’s like “What? You can’t keep it in the Lannisters!”  I don’t know, everybody’s got a different take on it.

Any other show you’re into as much as Game of Thrones?

I like Orange is the New Black, I’m only a couple episodes in of Season 2, but I enjoy that; one of the girls on the show Jessica [Pimentel] is a metal fan and musician. Other than that I tried to catch up on Breaking Bad, I was just too bored, Walking Dead was really good but it’s going to be one of those things where I’ll catch up on that when I’m on a really long flight to Japan or Australia or something. I’m excited about what they’re going to do with the TV show version of the Serial podcast so that could be really cool.
