Hollywood Undead Show ‘Renegade’ Future in New Video
Hollywood Undead have been tearing up rap rock for over ten years, and are set to release their next album Five this Oct. 27. Today the band has given fans another taste of what they can expect from the disc, with a new video and song titled "Renegade."
The whole video has a real desperado feel, taking influence from futuristic wasteland apocalypse features like Mad Max. Groups of kids spend their time destroying anything they can get their hands on, eventually going to rescue one of their own. The song bumps its hard rock guitar riffing, before dropping in its midsection for an all hip-hop beat. Things slam back into focus in a breakdown, letting the song work its aggressiveness out, seeing the kids walk off into the sunset
Of the song, vocalist Johnny 3 Tears says, “I hope this song and video can inspire kids to believe that they can change the world, and it's up to them if it’s for the better or worse. The truth is that the kids of today, are the renegades of tomorrow.”
“We’re five brothers, and this is our fifth record,” says Johnny 3 Tears, speaking on Five as a whole. “Nothing gets to the essence of the music like this number does. Numerology has a lot of power. When we said Five, it just made sense. The fact that we could all agree on one word codifies who we are. It also nods back to ‘No. 5’ from our first album, because it was our fifth song. Moreover, it hints at this secret society of fans supporting us for the past decade. The number is significant, and this is a significant moment for us.”
Hollywood Undead have given a good taste of what to expect from the upcoming album. Last month, they released a boxing-themed video for "Whatever It Takes," and when the album was announced in July they gave its first impression with the single "California Dreaming."
The disc is due Oct. 27 and can be pre-ordered at this location.
