Kittie haven't released a new album since 2011, but fans will finally get fresh material from Morgan Lander by way of symphonic death metal unit Karkaos, who just welcomed her as their new frontwoman.

"Joining Karkaos has been a true honour for me. It feels so incredibly good to be back in the metal game after a number of years away, and I cannot wait to step on the stage once again with these amazing musicians," said Lander on the newly minted union.

"We already knew how talented Morgan was when we began talking to her about joining the band," added founding guitarist Vincent Harnois. "When she sent us her first demos, we realized that this was going to be something extremely special," he continued. "She is an absolute pleasure to work with and she brings a whole new dimension to our songs. It is an honor to have her with us and we are thrilled to start the next chapter or our band together."

Lander replaces Viky Boyer, who fronted Karkaos from 2014 until now, making her recording debut with the band on their 2017 sophomore album Children of the Void. She utilized a mix of death metal growls and clean singing, something Lander should have no issue pulling off.

The group was formed in 2003 under the name Sinister Vengeance, adopting Karkaos in 2009. It'd be another two years before their debut EP arrived and an additional three before the release of their first album, Empire.

New music is currently underway at Silverwing studios, where the band began work on pre-production demos for eight songs earlier this month.
