Metallica’s 10th Studio Album Reportedly Set to Arrive in October
With Metallica looking to finish recording their 10th studio album this summer and possibly releasing it this fall, Germany’s biggest daily paper claims to know the record’s release date.
It’s been a long eight years since Metallica released Death Magnetic, which is seen as somewhat of a bounce back from 2003’s St. Anger. According to Bild, Metallica’s 10th studio album could arrive on Oct. 14. However, Universal Music, which distributes Metallica's music overseas, has not confirmed that date.
“We’re mixing it now, so hopefully by fall it’ll be out and hitting people’s ears,” frontman James Hetfield said in a recent interview. “We’re super stoked about it. It’s been a long time coming, and, you know, this is what we do. We love playing, and the next album is exactly what it’s supposed to be, so we’re excited about it.”
Lars Ulrich also promised Metal Forces that the record will be recorded, mixed and mastered this summer, attributing any foreseeable setback to “some sort of cosmic reason.” Last we heard, Hetfield, Ulrich and producer Greg Fidelman had locked themselves into the control room to mix Metallica’s 10th full-length.
Stay tuned for further updates on Metallica’s next album!
