Monuments’ Olly Steele + Mike Malyan Create ‘Bruce Almighty’ Metal Mash-up
Monuments guitarist Olly Steele and drummer Mike Malyan have just created a 58-second metal masterpiece featuring a funny clip from the 2003 film ‘Bruce Almighty.’ The British progressive rockers synched new music to a clip of Steve Carell reading the news in the film. Watch the hilarious and brilliant video in the player above.
Steele and Malyan created music that perfectly synchs up with one of the stand out scenes in the film, which stars Jim Carrey, Morgan Freeman and helped launch Steve Carell’s career. The scene features Carrey, who was just given all of God’s powers, controlling Carell's ‘Evan Baxter,’ a television news anchor who is live on the air.
The music combined with Carell’s hilarious delivery makes the video a classic. The band posted the clip on their Facebook page on Saturday (Jan. 31) with the caption, “When we're not grooving, we're making stupid things.” The video has already passed well over 500,000 views on YouTube in just over two days.
Monuments released their latest album ‘The Amanunensis’ last year. The British rockers will head to Australia for the Soundwave Festival starting on Feb 21. Check out all their tour dates here.
