Canada’s Kittie brought the metal genre to its knees with their debut album, 'Spit,' in 1999. Morgan was only 17 while Mercedes was a mere 15 years old when the album was released, but goes on record to say that the songs were written when they were even younger.

It’s clear that there was a lot of teenage angst in the band's early years, with Lander up front to let the hate flow through. 'Spit' is a bit messy, but in the best way due to the teens’ reckless nature. As the years passed, Morgan truly grew into her role as the frontwoman for Kittie and displayed more mature songwriting as Mercedes grew stronger behind the kit and as a backing vocalist.
