Oooohwaaahhhhh! Paleolithic death metal juggernauts Obituary have been unapologetically chugging and grooving through 10 albums now, with their eponymous forthcoming release marking that milestone. The Florida legends have teamed up with Loudwire for the premiere of the lyric video for the slugging new cut "Turned to Stone."

As if thawing after a 1,000 years entombed in ice, the song opens up with slow-churning riff and a low to high guttural scream from John Tardy, whose reputation as one of death metal's most unique and savage vocalists is never in question. In lockstep rhythm on all fronts, they settle into mid-tempo slam-styled groove, only picking up the pace when the frets start flying during the solos on the back half of "Turned to Stone." Admirably unwavering, Obituary don't dial up anything new and we wouldn't dare ask them to — this is exactly how it should be.

Tardy was brief yet animated when commenting on the song, stating, "'Turned to Stone' is one of my favorite songs off the new CD. It is also the first time I will actually publish lyrics to one of our songs. We are doing a lyric video for this song...our first one ever..." In closing, he echoed our opening statement: "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

Obituary will be out March 17 through Relapse. Pre-orders can be placed at the label's webstore and digital orders at iTunes. Keep up with the band on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and their official website.

Catch them on the road as direct support for Kreator from March 17 - April 15, also featuring Midnight and Horrendous. Get a full list of stops at our 2017 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
