In this Round 1 matchup of our Most Haunting Halloween Track tournament, a song from the Prince of Darkness squares off against a monster cut from an album entirely based off horror stories!

One of the most symbolic icons of Halloween is the werewolf and it will be hard to top Ozzy Osbourne dressed as a werewolf on the album cover howling at the moon. The lyrics portray the werewolf waking up in a simple, but effective manner: “Screams break the silence / Waking from the dead of night / Vengeance is boiling / He's returned to kill the light / They when he's found who he's looking for / Listen in awe and you'll hear him / Bark at the moon.” The jolting riff on "Bark at the Moon" comes courtesy of Jake E. Lee and makes the song immediately arresting and one of the best around this holiday.

Iced Earth’s Horror Show album features a song for a different horror story, with “Dracula” being a dynamic highlight. Matt Barlow’s soft croon opens the song before his jaw-dropping range takes charge and he lets loose on one of the most assaulting falsetto benders in metal. The song details the story of the most infamous vampire: “I am the Dragon of blood, the relentless prince of pain / Renouncing God on His throne / My blood is forever stained.”
