The late Ronnie James Dio will be honored with a weekend of tributes in May in Los Angeles. The iconic and legendary voice behind Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Dio, will be remembered with a public memorial service, a celebrity bowling tournament and the inaugural ‘Ride For Ronnie’ motorcycle ride and BBQ.

To commemorate the fifth anniversary of Dio’s untimely death from gastric cancer back on May 16, 2010, the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund is planning a weekend tribute for the late vocalist. The events will take place from May 15 through the 17 in the Los Angeles area.

The celebration of Ronnie's life will kick off with a celebrity bowling tournament on Friday, May 15 at Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City, Calif. The event will feature a silent auction featuring bowling pins autographed by Anthrax, Metallica, Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Yes and more.

A free public memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 16 at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. There, several former band members and friends will speak and perform Dio’s music. While the event is open to the public, seating is limited. So, if you are interested in attending please email info@diocancerfund.org with your name, phone number and the number of seats you are requesting.

On Sunday, May 17 the weekend will come to a close with the inaugural ‘Ride for Ronnie’ motorcycle ride and BBQ. The event will begin at the Harley-Davidson in Glendale, Calif., where motorcycle enthusiasts will ride to Los Encinos Park in Encino, Calif. Once arriving at the stop, there will be live music, food, a raffle, a silent auction and more.
