Who knew self-deceit could be so sublimely poppy? Leave it to Simple Creatures — the act featuring Blink-182 singer Mark Hoppus and All Time Low frontman Alex Gaskarth — to do just that on the latest bop from their upcoming EP Everything Opposite, which is out this Friday (Oct. 11).

Indeed, age-old inner duplicity finds a catchy new edge on "One Little Lie," the second tune to be released from Everything Opposite following its first single, "Thanks, I Hate It." Listen to Simple Creatures' "One Little Lie," and read the song's bittersweet lyrics, down toward the bottom of this post.

But don't let the somewhat dark subject matter deter the rocking. After all, from downtrodden mental environs were Simple Creatures born, as Hoppus shared with Billboard back in March.

"I figured out that going to the studio with no expectations but writing something cool was a great way to start the day," he said. "I like how it pulled me out of a dark place that I was in. It's a totally different experience. I love Blink, and it's my main love, but this is an awesome band to be a part of as well."

Hoppus and Gaskarth launched Simple Creatures earlier this year with their debut number "Drug" and subsequent first EP Strange Love. That effort's forthcoming follow-up contains four other tracks in addition to "One Little Lie" and "Thanks, I Hate It." Pre-order Everything Opposite here.

I live on the dark side, so pull the shades tight
Don’t shine that light in my eyes
I’m so jealous and inspired
It’s like I’m always wired to a time bomb

I lost my faith in drinking
I lost my voice again
Living in a shark’s teeth with you beside me
Waiting for the water to bleed

If I tell myself one little lie then I think that I’ll be alright
I tell myself one little lie
My head gets heavy every day like it’s filled with rocks and memories
I tell myself one little lie and the pain don’t phase me

Falling off the earth’s face
Watching your eyes glaze
I taste the salt on your skin
Fighting in a foreign city
Tonight will only lead me to a time bomb

You lost your self in whiskey
You lost your keys again
Living in a shark’s teeth with you beside me
Waiting for the water to bleed

Everything Opposite
Back and forth
Born to quit

I trip and stumble some of the time
But I know that I’ll be alright
I tell myself one little lie and the pain don’t phase me
