Emergency Surgery Forces Slash ft. Myles Kennedy Drummer Off Tour
Although the band only has a handful of concerts left before they wrap up their summer road campaign, Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators drummer Brent Fitz has been forced to leave the group's current tour due to a detached retina. In a statement, the musician said he would be receiving emergency eye surgery.
Fitz introduced his temporary replacement in the message. It looks like Shane Gaalaas, a Canadian drummer best known for his work with Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth and others, will take the percussionist's place for the remaining five dates. See Fitz's statement down toward the bottom of this post.
"Unfortunately I've had to leave the current SMKC tour due to emergency surgery for a detached retina," the drummer shared Monday (August 5.) "It leaves me heartbroken to not be able to play the last week of shows. I will miss everyone but just know that the mighty Shane Gaalaas has come to save the day on drums!"
About six weeks ago, Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators guitarist Frank Sidoris announced his own sudden leave from touring due to medical issues concerning his family, but he has since returned to the road.
Last year's Living the Dream — Slash's fourth overall solo effort and third from the Guns N' Roses guitarist alongside Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators — featured the singles "Driving Rain," "Mind Your Manners," "My Antidote" and "Boulevard of Broken Hearts."
