Win a Smashing Pumpkins ‘Oceania’ Prize Pack

To celebrate the release of the new Smashing Pumpkins album 'Oceania' (out June 19), Loudwire is teaming up with Diffuser.fm to give one lucky reader a Pumpkins prize pack consisting of a copy of 'Oceania' on vinyl, a CD of the album and a limited edition promo poster of the 'Oceania' album art.

The ninth full-length of Smashing Pumpkins' career, 'Oceania' was recorded in frontman Billy Corgan's private Chicago studio with guitarist Jeff Schroeder, drummer Mike Byrne and bassist Nicole Fiorentino. The concept of 'Oceania' is "an album within an album," as it is part of the band's 44-song work-in-progress, 'Teargarden by Kaleidyscope.'

"From a production standpoint I was dead set on making an album where every song was just as valuable as any other, ignoring the typical claptrap you hear about needing a single," says Corgan. "The only way to make the case that every song on 'Oceania' is worth hearing is to put your heart into the sequence as a cohesive whole."

Smashing Pumpkins will be playing 'Oceania' in its entirety on tour. “When we intersect with the fanbase, we have to reattach them to the idea of why we matter as an artistic unit,” Corgan tells Antiquiet. “So when people come to see the ‘Oceania’ tour, we’re going to play ‘Oceania,’ sixty minutes, as it was written.”
