Steel Panther Give Fans a Taste of ‘All You Can Eat’ With Acoustic Show at Album Release Party
Even though the members of Steel Panther are from Los Angeles, they celebrated the release of their brand new album 'All You Can Eat' with an intimate gig in New York City. The very glamorous and hilarious group performed five acoustic songs in front of a small crowd at the legendary, high-end burlesque club The Box last night (April 1).
Steel Panther began their set with ‘The Burden of Being Wonderful’ before delighting fans by cranking out the 'Feel the Steel' favorite ‘Girl From Oklahoma.’ The Panther continued on with 'Party Like Tomorrow is the End of the World' and ‘Community Property,’ which were supposed to close the show, but once the rowdy crowd demanded "one more song!" frontman Michael Starr fought off the closing curtains and Steel Panther performed a very unrehearsed version of ‘Fat Girl (Thar She Blows),' which was the gem of the night.
Starr blanked on some of the lyrics to 'Fat Girl,' but gracefully recovered once the crowd shouted the words out at him. Starr also lost his balance during the track, almost falling down some very tiny steps in front of the stage as he attempted to serenade a hot chick in the crowd. However, one must remember, this is all a part of the burden of being wonderful.
As always, when Steel Panther comes to town it’s part rock show, part comedy show. In between, they picked on everyone from the aforementioned hot chick in the crowd, her extremely lucky boyfriend and everyone in between. Of course, Steel Panther busted each other’s balls onstage as well, delivering their pervy, absurd humor in charming fashion.
The small group of New Yorkers that experienced Steel Panther’s entertaining and acoustic antics were lucky to catch these hilarious guys truly uncensored. If you missed this gig, don’t sweat it, Steel Panther are gearing up for what will be a bitchin’ North American tour. Go here for a full list of dates.
