Tommy Vext Cancels Tour Dates ‘To Focus on Healing,’ Explains Decision in Statement
Tommy Vext has canceled a handful of tour dates so he can "focus on healing." He issued a statement explaining the decision.
The vocalist wrote a lengthy post on social media yesterday afternoon (Nov. 25) confirming the cancelation of his Texas shows that were scheduled for this weekend in Austin, Fort Worth (Dallas), Corpus Christi and Houston.
As of now, his Nov. 27 show in Knoxville, Tenn. is still scheduled, and the tour will resume Dec. 3 in Jefferson, La. See the rest of his upcoming dates on his website.
Vext explained that the deaths of his father and other family members and some other major stressful events that happened this year have been very difficult for him to process, and thus he needs to take some time to work on his mental health.

To whom it may concern,
Due to circumstances beyond my control I will be forced to cancel the Texas dates in Dallas corpus austin and houston next weekend. Personally this is extremely disappointing considering the continuing series of events that caused the east coast dates to also be cancelled.
Additionally after burying my father and several family members this year, it has been extremely difficult to remain optimistic and focused on music. On top of struggling to process so much grief I have also gone back into intense therapy after witnessing my former partner’s second violent suicide attempt in my home.
Sometimes as men we spend so much our energy trying to help save everyone else that we wind up neglecting our own mental and spiritual health. We can become more intensely frustrated with our own limitations seeing ourselves as failures for things we couldn’t fix. Things that often weren’t our responsibility to repair in the first place.
So now is the time for me to take a step back to focus on healing my own health and well being. I have no doubt the following months will lead to some of the best music I have ever made in my career. So please show me some grace for now and allow me to return bigger and better then ever (as one president once said to me.)
