The shredding riffs that Black Label Society guitarist Zakk Wylde laid down for ESPN’s 'Baseball Tonight’ theme song contest has earned the axe-man the winning trophy!

Wylde won the tournament of songs, outlasting several other contestants that included some pretty stiff competition, including Tom Morello, Staind, and Seether. Each competitor contributed their own take on the iconic ESPN 'Baseball Tonight' theme song, offering up a diverse collection of options for fans to vote on.

BLS fans, the beloved and beyond loyal 'Berserkers', came out in droves to vote in the fan-decided contest, pushing Wylde to baseball glory. After more than 14,000 people cast their votes, Wylde was victorious.

Wylde, a huge baseball and New York Yankees fan, was excited about the win, commenting, “I won this thing, and it was all about my love for baseball and my love for music.”

He made an astute point about the dynamic between baseball and music, “All musicians are frustrated jocks. And, all jocks are frustrated musicians.”

He thanked everyone that voted for him with a simple message, “To the ESPN family and the Black Label Society family, keep bleeding black. Thanks for your vote.”
