The inaugural Loudwire Music Festival is under way. The fans flocked to the Jam Ranch just outside of Grand Junction, Colo., for the first day of the festival and there was plenty of great music to check out.

Friday headliners Weezer satisfied a heated crowd getting their second wind. The group played a hits filled set that included such standards as "Hash Pipe," "Island in the Sun," "Beverly Hills" and "Say It Ain't So" as well as deeper favorites like "Surf Wax America" and "El Scorcho." Frontman Rivers Cuomo revealed during the set that while he couldn't remember playing Grand Junction before, he was "kind of digging it." Older favorites like "The Sweater Song" and "Buddy Holly" helped the band end the night on a high note. During "Buddy Holly," the entire group took turns on drums bringing things to a crashing end.

Theory of a Deadman rocked the main stage before Weezer, ripping through rousing versions of "Lowlife," "Bitch Came Back," the recent hit single "Angel" and "I Hate My Life." Singer Tyler Connolly was into the set, trading stage banter with the audience and later leading the crowd in a "Loudwire" chant.

Also rocking the main stage were the always theatrical In This Moment. The band took the stage amidst sweltering Colorado heat and delivered a truly sizzling performance, featuring such fan favorites as "Sick Like Me," "Adrenalize" and "Blood."

Other highlights on Day 1 included One - The Only Tribute to Metallica, who truly rocked the stage and were worthy of the salute they were giving the iconic thrash metal icons. With a singer that looked very similar to James Hetfield and a very tight sound, they got the crowd pumped in one of the hottest parts of the day.

Meanwhile, on the Budweiser side stages, 3 Pill Morning, Vajra, The Blackfires and Zamtrip all offered rocking sets with a bit of variety on the hard rock genre.
