Ghost’s Cardinal Copia Covers Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman': Watch
Earlier today, Metallica was honored with the prestigious Polar Music Prize at a ceremony in Sweden. As part of the event, a supergroup consisting of Ghost's Cardinal Copia along with members of Candlemass and Swedish songwriting team Vargas & Lagola, performed Metallica's "Enter Sandman." The event took place at Konserthuset in Stockholm, Sweden, the ceremony traditionally features Swedish artists performing the honorees' music.
Drummer Lars Ulrich and bassist Robert Trujillo were on hand to accept the award; James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett did not attend.
His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf presented Ulrich and Trujillo with the award. Honorees are awarded one million SEK (roughly $125,000), which every member of Metallica will donate to their All Within My Hands foundation.
The Polar Music Prize is given to "celebrate music in all its various forms and to emphasize the original intention of the Polar Music Prize: to break down musical boundaries by bringing together people from all the different worlds of music." Previous winners include Paul McCartney, Quincy Jones, Elton John, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, B.B. King, Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel, Bjork and Chuck Berry.
