Glenn Hughes + Robin Zander Honored at Adopt the Arts Benefit Show [Exclusive Photos]

The music of recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Trapeze) and Robin Zander (Cheap Trick) was celebrated at an all-star benefit concert for the Adopt the Arts charity organization at the Fonda Theater in Hollywood on Thursday night (May 12).

All-star jams are a more than common occurrence in Hollywood right now, but Adopt the Arts brought out some of the rock's luminaries. Taking the stage throughout the night were Matt Sorum (Guns N’ Roses, Hollywood Vampires), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour), Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses), Billy Duffy (The Cult), Dean and Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots), Steve Lukather (Toto), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Franky Perez (Apolcalyptica), Paul Ill (Tina Turner, Disreputable Few), Damon Fox (The Cult, Big Elf) and a surprise appearance from Joe Perry (Aerosmith, Hollywood Vampires).

Despite recently undergoing a dual knee replacement surgery, legendary Deep Purple singer-bassist Glenn Hughes delivered an incendiary performance that showcased his vocal acrobatics.

Robin Zander brought all the Cheap Trick favorites, performing “Hello There,” “Surrender,” “Dream Police,” and “I Want You to Want Me,” as well as a mid-set solo performance of “The Flame.”

Zander and Hughes teamed up on an all-star version of "Come Together," where they were joined by Perry, Lukather, Will Lee, and Clarke, and after singing "Happy Birthday" to Billy Duffy, they closed out the night with Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll,” featuring the dual drumming of Matt Sorum and Chad Smith.

Adopt the Arts is a Los Angeles-based charity co-founded by musician Matt Sorum and activist Abby Berman. The organization works to preserve arts programs in U.S. public schools. To raise awareness, Adopt the Arts honors individuals who’ve had a long-lasting impact on music culture and who inspire young musicians to follow in their footsteps.
