Guns N’ Roses To Play Intimate Apollo Theater Show in New York City
It's not often one gets to see a massive rock band in a smaller venue setting, but Guns N' Roses really want to surprise people for their "Not In This Lifetime" tour. Today, it was announced that the band will be playing an intimate concert at the historic Apollo Theater in New York City on July 20. The show is a private invite only event presented by SiriusXM as a part of their upcoming launch for a limited-run Guns N' Roses Radio station on the network.
Attendance of the event is limited only to lucky SiriusXM subscribers who have been members of the network since June 7, 2017. The Guns N' Roses station will run from July 13-22, and will cover songs throughout the band's discography, as well as artists who have influenced them, and a handful of live tracks and rarities.
Guns N' Roses taking their giant stage show to a small venue like the Apollo should be an interesting transition. The theater has a capacity of 1,506, a sharp decrease in size over their usual arena venues. While attendees of the larger leg of the "Not In This Lifetime" tour will see some pretty cool openers like Deftones, Royal Blood, and Live, you really can't beat getting the chance to see the band play in an incredibly close proximity. It's not the first time they've played a small room during this classic lineup reunion, as last year saw them open up with a performance in West Hollywood's legendary Troubadour.
The Apollo Theater has been a staple of New York City concerts for decades now, earning its fame by helping to promote some of the greatest swing artists in the 1930s. The venue has been around since the 1910s, and still puts on concerts to this day. Today, it's become an honor to get the chance to play at the venue, as evidenced by Metallica, who completely crushed their set at the Apollo in 2013.
For those unable to attend the Apollo Theater show, you can still catch the band on the new leg of their "Not In This Lifetime" tour. Dates are listed below, with ticketing info on Guns N' Roses website.
