Kid Rock Issues Warning After Failed Burglary of His Home: ‘I Will Not Hesitate to Shoot’

A Detroit man, 43, allegedly attempted to break into Kid Rock's Michigan home on July 31. Never one to sit on his opinions or to pipe down, Kid Rock posted photos of the would-be burglar on his blog and issued a warning to anyone who might attempt a similar action that he will protect his home, hearth and family from any invasions and that he will not hesitate to shoot a trespasser.

In his blog post, Kid, born Robert Ritchie, writes, "Thank God I was not on the property at the time of this attempted break in. I am an avid hunter and marksman and I will not hesitate to shoot anyone who has myself or family in fear for our lives."

The police found the man and arrested him on Saturday, Aug. 3, after the blog was posted and after two tipsters revealed his identity to authorities, according to Oakland County Undersherriff Michael McCabe (report via The New York Daily News).

The man was filmed by a surveillance camera and appeared to be walking on crutches on Rock's Clarkston, Mich. property. Footage depicted the man ramming the driveway gate open with a white van, which was later found and impounded, according to another report. The suspect tried to gain entry into the home but was not successful.

The suspect is being held at a county jail and is likely to be arraigned Monday (Aug. 5).

Last seen in the area of M-15 (Ortonville Rd) and Hubbard (just north of I-75) Wednesday afternoon, July 31, 2013 around 4:15pm.
