So, what did you do when you turned 13? Odds are, it wasn't as cool as what Evan Adamson did for his, as the up-and-coming musician sat behind the kit for his favorite band Metallica in Amsterdam.

Adamson was invited onstage, while singer James Hetfield feigned surprise upon turning around and not seeing Lars Ulrich behind the kit. "Oh god, Lars shrunk. They put Lars in the wash. Told them not to put him in the dryer," joked the singer, as Ulrich appeared offering some last minute words of encouragement to young Evan.

After engaging the audience in some vocal queues, Adamson got to start "Seek and Destroy" on the drums for the band before eventually getting the tap on the shoulder and swapping out with Ulrich. Watch the whole thing play out below in a Twitter post from the group wishing Evan a happy 13th birthday.

Meanwhile, Adamson himself was quite thrilled with how things played out, stating via his Instagram account, "Well well well no words I mean to play drums in front of 68,000 people with my hero’s my favourite band of all time was just the best thing ever and to top it all off it was my bday." The show took place Tuesday night (June 11) at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam.

Metallica's "WorldWired" tour continues tomorrow (June 13) in Cologne, Germany, with dates booked in Europe through the summer. See all of their scheduled stops here.
