Congrats are in order for The Devil Wears Prada's Chris Rubey, who is the father of a newborn child. However, the guitarist will miss part of the band's upcoming trek with As I Lay Dying in order to stay home and enjoy time with his family.

The band has already made alternate arrangements to fill the void left by Rubey, as For Today's Samuel Penner will be pulling double duty performing with both his band and The Devil Wears Prada during the guitarist's absence. An exact timeline for the Rubey's return is unknown, but it does appear that he expects to be back prior to the end of the band's co-headlining run with As I Lay Dying, which kicks off this Friday, Feb. 22, in Ventura, Calif.

For his part, Rubey posted a message on The Devil Wears Prada's Facebook page that reads as follows:

Hey guys, wanted to make everyone aware that I'll be staying home for a portion of our current tour with AILD to take care of my newborn. Samuel Penner from For Today will be filling in for the time being and we're very glad to have him. I'll be back as soon as possible, and I hope you all can go check out a show! Thanks - Chris Rubey

Rubey, who composes the majority of the band's instrumentals, has remained busy with TDWP since the beginning of the year. The group recently traveled to Portland where they started working out the details on their forthcoming disc. Frontman Mike Hranica told us that the plan was to finish the writing and work out a majority of the details on their album before heading out on tour, then begin recording shortly after.

It was announced earlier this week that The Devil Wears Prada had signed to Roadrunner Records. The group also revealed that 'Dead Throne' producer Adam Dutkiewicz was returning this time as the executive producer, with Matt Goldman overseeing the production.
