Poppy’s Pop Metal Rebirth Continues on New Song ‘I Disagree’

Enigmatic pop-turned-metal artist Poppy has released a new music video for "I Disagree," the second single off her forthcoming record, also titled I Disagree, which will be out Jan. 10 of next year.

Her sudden stylistic transition caught many fans off guard and this song appears to offer some insight into how this shift was put into effect. In the video for "I Disagree," the singer expresses contempt for being pressured by music industry executives as she gases them, impervious to its effects as she sports a spiked and bedazzled gas mask.

Much like "Concrete," the track seesaws between undulating, downtuned metal rhythms and beat-happy passages drenched in vocal effects, though this time all the bubblegum pop elements have been discarded.
