Could we be hearing more Stone Temple Pilots in 2015? It certainly seems that way as the group, which now features Linkin Park's Chester Bennington on vocals, returned to the studio to continue work on its follow-up to 2013's 'High Rise' EP.

Stone Temple Pilots bassist and backing vocalist Robert DeLeo revealed the good news via his Twitter account along with a photo featuring all four band members in the studio. According to DeLeo's tweet, the band has spent the past week writing and expect to start in earnest on a new album today (Jan. 12):

The recent writing session follows some early work the band did back in July of last year. During that stint, Bennington found a break in the midst of his Linkin Park plans to carve out some writing time. Linkin Park were in the midst of heavy promotion for 'The Hunting Party' around that time, but with that disc now well into its longevity, the vocalist is dedicating his time to advancing his work with STP.

At present, work on new music is first and foremost. However, the band has announced its first live show of 2015, booking an appearance at Arizona Bike Week in Scottsdale, Ariz. on March 28.
