While it appears as though there will be no System of a Down album in the immediate future, that hasn't kept the band members from working together.

In a social media post from drummer John Dolmayan, he offers a photo of bassist Shavo Odadjian jamming with the caption, "Great song ideas flowing from a very strong song writer. Stay tuned @shavoodadjian." See the posting below.

Both Daron Malakian and Serj Tankian have stated in recent interviews that attempts at coming together on ideas for the next System of a Down album have stalled, with Malakian moving forward with a long in the works Scars on Broadway album and Tankian redirecting material he wrote for System to a new solo EP.

As for what Dolmayan and Odadjian might be doing, it should be noted that Dolmayan's other project, These Grey Men, were working on a covers disc earlier this year. In fact, another of Dolmayan's System bandmates, Serj Tankian, reportedly laid down vocals for David Bowie's "Starman" and Talking Heads' "Road to Nowhere" back in January. The covers album itself was crowdfunded by fans through a Kickstarter project.

However, with the mention of Odadjian being "a very strong songwriter" by Dolmayan, it's possible their collaboration has spilled over to another project. As the drummer states in his posting, "stay tuned."
