Sometimes you just want to play! And for three of System of a Down's members, their scheduled performance at the Rock in Rio festival just wasn't enough. So Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan (minus Serj Tankian) took over a Rio de Janiero hotel bar and rocked to about 80 people ahead of their Rock in Rio set.

A fan managed to capture a portion of the performance and post it on their Instagram account. The caption of the post reads, "What happens in #Rio rocks Rio! @systemofadown @shavoodadjian @realjohndolmayan and Daron getting up in a bar at hotel to give 80 lucky random people something to remember forever. From 80 people last night to 80,000 people tonight at #rockinrio #systemofadown #classic #neverforget #rare @velvethammermgmt #manager #soad #deftonesband Tonight!" Check out the video below.

System of a Down have been touring throughout the year, but at present only have a handful of shows remaining on their schedule. They'll play Estadio Geba in Buenos Aires on Wednesday (Sept. 30), followed by early October shows in Bogota and Mexico City.

Back in March of this year, bassist Shavo Odadjian revealed that the band had written some songs and were discussing the possibility of returning to the studio. However, the group has been quiet about their work together ever since, so it's not known if the foursome have managed to progress toward a potential new album.
