The Pretty Reckless and Heaven’s Basement Rock New York City
The Pretty Reckless headlined the night with a 14-song gig that showcased lead singer Taylor Momsen's strong vocals and sultry onstage persona. The band kicked the set off with the song 'Follow Me Down,' a tune released earlier this year that is expected to appear on their upcoming album 'Going to Hell.' The bulk of the gig was made up of songs off their 2010 debut album 'Light Me Up,' but the band closed their initial set with the new single 'Going to Hell,' the title track off their aforementioned sophomore disc, due in 2014.
For an encore, Momsen and guitarist Ben Phillips came out by themselves and performed a stirring rendition of Audioslave's 'Like a Stone,' followed by the songs "Just Tonight' and 'F--ked Up World.' While a number of the fans in attendance likely grew up watching Momsen on TV, she proved that she's not just an actress fronting a band, but a bona fide rock singer.
Prior to the Pretty Reckless' headlining performance, UK act Heaven's Basement tore up the stage with an energetic set of hard-rock anthems. Singer Aaron Buchanan is a throwback rocker who takes the best of what he's learned from iconic rock frontmen of the past to influence his engaging stage presence. The band rocked a nonstop, high-octane nine-song set that included such hits as 'I Am Electric' and 'Fire, Fire,' with Buchanan walking his way on top of the audience at one point in the show.
While the tour just wrapped up, look for both of these bands to make a big splash in 2014. See our exclusive photos from the NYC gig below.
