We recently published a list of the Best Tweets of 2011. Matt Heafy of Trivium didn’t make the list, but one of his latest tweets deserves some major recognition.

On Dec. 27, Heafy sarcastically tweeted "Dear state of the music industry, Thanks a heap for this massive royalty check” with a picture of a check displaying that he is owed a whopping $1.31 (see below).

In our interview with Heafy earlier this year, he talks about metal music and how it changed from when he first started versus now. “Metal is in a very odd spot in the U.S. and in a lot of other places in the world it’s still very strong, other places it’s kind of quiet, but in the U.S. right now there aren’t really any new metal bands. There aren’t any new bands that are coming out that were our age.”

He goes on to say that “Metal’s kind of lost right now. The bands that are touring in metal, they’ve been around for a while now, there’s no one new coming in and doing something different. “

With Trivium’s latest album ‘In Waves’ making a splash, the band is set to go on tour next year with In Flames, Veil of Maya and Kyng. Hopefully, Heafy and the rest of the gang make a few more bucks by then. Check out Heafy's check below.
