Watch Sevendust Perform Debut Album in Full at Special Hometown Show
It's been 20 years since Sevendust arrived with their self-titled debut. Headlining a hometown show at the Masquerade in Atlanta, Ga. last Friday (March 17) the hard rock vets celebrated the milestone by performing the record in its entirety as seen in the video playlist above!
Soundcheck videos appear at the beginning of the playlist and the real action starts with the fourth video and first song off the album, "Black." The song's title plays out onstage with the house lights turned off and and the opening moments playing through the PA, but the band appears before long as the crowd responds with a roar.
The album is regarded for its feral energy, captured by producers Jay Jay French and Mark Mendoza of Twisted Sister. It was a memorable night for fans who got treated to the standout singles "Black," "B--ch" and "Too Close to Hate" alongside the rest of the album, which meant seeing some material that may never be performed live again.
Sevendust debuted at No. 165 on the Billboard 200, but made a lasting impression not indicated by the chart position. The album was certified Gold in the U.S. by the RIAA on May 19, 1999, revealing an organic rise to prominence for the Atlanta rockers. Since, they've released nine more studio albums, the latest being 2015's Kill the Flaw, which netted the second-highest spot on the charts in the band's career, reaching No. 13.
While Sevendust don't have a tour currently lined up, guitarist Clint Lowery will be on the road with Seether starting in late April, serving as an additional axeman to their otherwise three-man lineup. For a list of stops, check our 2017 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
