Stage dives, crowd surfing, wall to wall mosh pits, lots of sweat, and even a little blood -- it just doesn’t get any better than checking out a good rock or metal concert. Below are the 2011 Loudwire Music Awards nominees for Live Act of the Year.

Anthrax have accomplished a lot this year with their release of ‘Worship Music.’ The band was part of the Big 4 lineup with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer that played a handful of special shows in 2011, including a homecoming for Anthrax at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y. In addition, they co-headlined a fall tour with fellow thrash veterans Testament that we reviewed here.

Overcoming the tragic loss of their drummer The Rev, Avenged Sevenfold had a monster year in 2011. They headlined the massive Uproar Festival this summer and now they are hitting arenas for their ‘Buried Alive’ tour this fall with Hollywood Undead, Asking Alexandria and Black Veil Brides.

Dead Throne' is the latest hard hitting record from the Devil Wears Prada and after explosively co-headlining this year’s ‘Warped Tour’ with A Day to Remember, they are currently out on the road once again on a headlining North American trek with support from Whitechapel, Enter Shikari and For Today.

The very busy Korn started the year off by co-headlining the ‘Music As a Weapon’ tour with Disturbed. They recently wrapped up a headlining tour in support of their 10th album, 'The Path of Totality' with dubstep artists Downlink and Datsik.

Papa Roach toured nonstop in 2011 as they set out to ‘Raid the Nation’ on tour earlier this year with Finger Eleven and Pop Evil. Then, they headed back out on the road for ‘The Rock Allegiance’ summer tour with Buckcherry and Puddle of Mudd, among many others. The band is now working on its next studio album for a likely late 2012 release.
