Following the death of GWAR frontman Dave Brockie in March, the 5th annual GWAR-B-Q will still go on, and will serve as a tribute to Brockie and the iconic Oderus Urungus character he created.

On Aug. 15, the day before the GWAR-B-Q, a free public memorial event for Brockie will be held at Hadad's Lake in Richmond, Va. from 4PM-7PM.

Saturday, Aug. 16 is the date of the GWAR-B-Q, complete with beer, BBQ, a skate park and water park, giveaways, and, of course, great live music. This year's lineup includes Hatebreed, Body Count, Meatmen, Revocation, Iron Reagan, Goatwhore, Noisem, Kepone, Loincloth, Occultist, F--kface Unstoppable, Eat the Turnbuckle and more.

Plenty of GWAR merchandise will also be available including their new Killsner beer and the legendary GWAR-B-Q sauce. Check out a commercial for the event above.

Since his death, The Dave Brockie Foundation has also been created. It's a charity with the mission of promoting the advancement of music, images, letters and performances in the arts. It will endeavor to encourage promising talents, as well as preserve the legacy of Dave’s body of works. The foundation’s first goal is to finance the creation of a monument in Richmond, Virginia in Brockie's honor and memory. To make a donation to the Dave Brockie Foundation, click here.

On Saturday (May 3), the 'All Hail GWAR!' memorial art show will open at the MF Gallery in Brooklyn, N.Y. Nearly 100 artists will display their GWAR-inspired works during the month-long, free, all-ages event. Opening night will host a ‘Cash & Carry’ sale, with one-third of the proceeds going to the Dave Brockie Foundation.
