The transformation of Against Me! singer Tom Gabel into Laura Jane Grace continues to evolve with each passing show. During the band's recent performance at New York's Terminal 5 opening for the Cult, Grace used a cover song, and help from a music icon, to address her transgender transformation.

Joan Jett turned up to join in a cover of the Replacements' classic, 'Androgynous.' Jett took the lead on much of the song, with Grace stepping up to the microphone several times to share in the verses.

Grace, once again dressed in a black sleeveless top, rocked the guitar throughout, and her hair is perhaps a little longer than when she debuted onstage in San Diego last month. Grace towered over Jett in size, but that didn't stop the pair from sharing an embrace at the end of the song.

Though they stayed true to the track through most of the song, Jett would later add some lyrics, singing, "Closer than you know / we love each other so / androgynous / Hey, don't you get it? / We're all androgynous."

Against Me! still have more upcoming North American dates with the Cult, as they're booked through to June 23 in Los Angeles before jetting off to Belgium for the Dour Festival later this month. Stay tuned for our full review and photo gallery of the Cult and Against Me! in New York City.
