Babymetal Showcase Dystopian Warriors in ‘Distortion’ Video
To plug their upcoming 2018 world tour, Babymetal have released the dark video for the new song “Distortion.”
"On April 1, known as 'Fox Day', a new prophecy was revealed,” the band said in a
statement. “The prophecy revealed that up until now we have only experienced the Light
Side and there exists an unknown Dark Side, a legend of seven metal spirits, The Chosen
Seven.”
In the video, the band’s metalcore/pop metal music soundtracks a dystopian set of
imagery, including a figure with fire shooting from her outstretched palms, a charging
character with antlers on his head, a fuzzy monstrous beast with eight arms, and auto
parts and other bits of metal spiraling through the air. As the clip progresses, the battle
rages through a war-torn city. The video ends with a fiery sun hanging above the skyline,
bathing everything red as a camera pans over the demolished metropolis.
The group will launch an international tour on May 8 in Kansas City, Missouri. They
will play eight U.S. dates – ending May 20 at Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio
before heading over to Europe. Check out the dates below.
