Drummer Jeremy Spencer officially left Five Finger Death Punch in December of last year and he'll be occupying some of his time as a reserve officer of the Rockport Police Department in Indiana.

For Spencer, the move is a bit of a homecoming as he grew up in nearby Warwick County. "I was recently sworn in as a Reserve Police Officer of the Rockport, Indiana Police Department by city Mayor Gay Ann Harney," he wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself in black police department polo shirt bearing his last name.

"I'm still a resident of Las Vegas, NV, but It’s an honor to be able to come back to this area when I can and serve the community as a reserve police officer and help out my brothers," he continued.

Spencer stepped down from his post as Five Finger Death Punch's drummer due to health issues as his body was unable to keep up with the physical demands of the job. Responding to fan comments on the above post, he wrote, "I have to get disc replacement surgery, so I can’t do [the reserve police officer job] for a few months."

He revealed that he'll be undergoing disc replacement surgery on Tuesday (June 11). "Once it heals, I begin. I’m a reserve so I will only be doing it sometimes," Spencer commented.

Speaking with WFIE about his role with the Rockport Police Department, Spencer relayed, "You just see the impact they have on everyone’s life. It’s so important." Reflecting on the change of direction from drumming in Five Finger Death Punch to this new role, he said, "Life’s about experience, so to me this was great and I think this is going to be great now," said Jeremy.

As to whether or not we'll hear from Spencer again on the music side, he vowed there's other things in the works. "I am busy, I have other projects that I’m doing," he affirmed. "Just because I’m no longer in the band didn’t mean I retired."

Five Finger Death Punch have since tapped Scale the Summit's Charlie Engen as their new drummer. They even found him on Instagram. A new album, their first without Spencer behind the kit, is currently being worked on.
