Kamelot are just over a week away from the release of The Shadow Theory, their 12th studio album since forming in Tampa, Florida back in 1991. The album is rooted in psychology and Carl Jung's theory about the dark side that unconsciously lies within us all and the power metal icons have shared a new piece of the concept with a video for "Phantom Divine (Shadow Empire)."

On a bed of steady double kicks, triumphant chords, and orchestral bombast, the song opens up in grandiose fashion, but the energy quickly subsides as a darker mood begins to run rampant. Lunging riffs, precision pauses and a soaring chorus all round out "Phantom Divine," with Once Human's Lauren Hart adding an enchanting touch to the track.

"In the future, our memories and thoughts will be extracted and transferred to synthetic AI," says guitarist Thomas Youngblood. "Our carbon-based bodies will no longer be needed and eventually discarded. On 'Phantom Divine' we explore this vision of a world where we are replaced by AI. Welcome to the Phantom Divine!"

The Shadow Theory will be released on April 16 through Napalm Records and pre-orders can be placed at the label's webstore. Kamelot hit the road on April 14 on a headlining North American tour with support coming from Delain and Battle Beast and you can check out the list of stops here.
